“There’s nothing like going on the water and enjoying a warm summer day or a cool summer night. We're proud to help folks to experience exactly that. Our job is to make it easier to do just that by simplifying the vessel documentation process,” said Jackson Smith of Vessel Documentation Online.

Vessel Documentation Online, a site designed to streamline the Coast Guard boat registration process, has received more vessels with a “Recreation” endorsement than at any previous time in their history. At the same time, sales of recreational vessels increased in America.
According to the NMMA, the “National Marine Manufacturers Association,” “US new powerboat retail unit sales are expected to surpass 300,000 units for the second consecutive year, closing 2021 an estimated 4 to 6 percent below record highs in 2020 and 7 percent above the five-year sales average.”
Vessels that are to be used solely for pleasure are registered with a “Recreation” endorsement on their Certificate of Documentation. That is one of the more than a dozen different boat documentation forms available at Vessel Documentation Online. From 2020 through 2022, Vessel Documentation Online had a record number of vessel owners apply with a “Recreation” endorsement.
Beyond a Certificate of Registration, Vessel Documentation Online also assists vessel owners with renewing their registration, obtaining a certified copy, reinstating it, and other forms.
