OCEANSIDE, Calif. (PRWEB) February 16, 2023
Oceanside, located on San Diego’s north shore just 40 minutes from downtown San Diego, is the new darling of awards season. This historic surf enclave known for its relaxed, off-beat vibe has earned recent awards and accolades for everything from top chefs to uniquely curated, hand-crafted products and experiences. “Oceanside has it all from great beaches and world-class surfing to amazing restaurants, vibrant arts and culture and endless options for outdoor fun,” said Visit Oceanside CEO Leslee Gaul. “Our city is bursting with creativity and talent and it’s evident in the many awards we’ve received across numerous industries from hotels to dining and arts.”Conde Nast Traveler’s Top Hotel in San Diego
Conde Nast Traveler readers ranked Oceanside’s new Mission Pacific Hotel the top hotel in San Diego in the travel magazine’s annual Reader’s Choice Awards released in October. The hotel also landed on USA Today 10 Best Lists for pool, spa, pet-friendly and hotel, and earned a host of other accolades from publications including Wine Enthusiast, Brides, Thrillist and San Diego Magazine. Oceanside Museum of Art Education Award
Set in the heart of one of California’s 14 designated cultural districts, Oceanside Museum of Art is a world-class art venue dedicated to exploring the art and stories of SoCal artists. This cultural jewel was the only museum in San Diego and one of just four in California to receive the 2022 Superintendent Award for Excellence in Museum Education by the California Association of Museums and California Department of Education. The award recognizes the outstanding programming of the museum’s Literacy Through Art program that serves K-12 students.
Michelin Guide Honors
Oceanside’s flip-flop fine dining struck a chord with the discerning palates of California’s Michelin Guide critics in 2022. Valle, the first stateside restaurant of renowned Baja Chef Roberto Alcocer, earned Michelin guide honors alongside fellow Oceanside honoree Dija Mara, which was named to the Bib Gourmand list in 2021. Early 2023, a third Michelin restaurant joined the Oceanside scene with the opening of Heritage Barbecue’s second location (and first to offer house-made craft beer) in South Oceanside. Sustainability Advocate of the Year
In addition to producing tasty eats, Oceanside was recognized for boundary pushing efforts in sustainability. Oceanside Chef Davin Waite— the culinary wizard behind some of the city’s most popular restaurants including Wrench & Rodent, The Plot and Shoots Fish and Beer— was lauded for his work in zero-waste, total utilization and regenerative dining by California Travel Association (CalTravel) with the 2022 Sustainability Advocate Award. Waite also earned San Diego Magazine’s award for Best Vegetarian Vegan restaurant in 2022 for The Plot. Great American Beer Festival Awards
Oceanside is serious about craft beer and has the awards to prove it. Oceanside breweries have brought home medals from the prestigious Great American Beer Festival every year since 2017 (except for pandemic year 2020). In 2022, Bagby Beer Company continued the streak with a silver medal for its Three Beagles English-style Brown Ale. For those who prefer spirits to beer, Oceanside also has top-notch Whiskey. Competing against 800 entries, Oceanside’s Pacific Coast Spirits had two whiskeys— American Single Malt (11th) and California Blue Corn (80th) named to Fred Minnik’s Top 100 American Whiskey List of 2022.For more about Oceanside, visit http://www.visitoceanside.org.
