BrightStar Care® Expands Its Corporate Footprint Further with Eight Unit BrightStar Owned Acquisition
The Leading Home Care Franchise Expands its Company-Owned Operations with Eight New BrightStar Owned Locations in Wisconsin, Closing a Deal with Long Time BrightStar Care Franchisees
GURNEE, Ill., April 4, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- BrightStar Care, the leading nationwide home care and medical staffing franchise known for providing the highest standard of quality care, announced today the acquisition of eight BrightStar Owned (BSO) locations bringing its number of company-owned agencies to 30. The eight locations added to the BrightStar Owned umbrella are located in Wisconsin, expanding the brand's corporate operations in the Midwest. These eight locations were previously owned by BrightStar Care franchisees Susan Rather, Jeff Tews, and Ryan Tews, who owned and operated their agencies for more than 16 years.
BrightStar Care created BrightStar Owned to expand the brand's corporate-owned footprint and utilize these agencies as testing sites for new technologies and processes to advance its franchise locations. BrightStar Owned agencies also pilot new payer and reimbursement models and accept Medicare Advantage plans and other key national account referrals as part of its business model. Since its launch in February 2022, BrightStar Owned has used key insights from its agencies to prioritize areas to benefit BrightStar Care's entire franchise network. Key learnings from these new agencies will assist franchisees in optimizing their operations and diversifying their revenues.
Rather and Tews are dedicated to the BrightStar Care brand and have chosen to stay on for a few months to assist the BrightStar Owned team during this period of transition. This acquisition showcases how the BrightStar Owned program complements the franchise network so well. BrightStar Care created this initiative to further the brand's robust franchise network and benefit its franchisees by providing an easy transition for franchisees looking to sell their operation for another business venture, retire, or move to another level of the BrightStar Care business. While Rather and Tews BrightStar Care locations are now under BSO, the family will continue to own and operate their two BrightStar Senior Living® communities.
"As we continue to align with where the healthcare industry is heading, we are focused on expanding BrightStar Owned by acquiring well-established franchised agencies that our entire network can learn and grow from," said Shelly Sun, Founder and CEO of BrightStar Care. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to expand BSO's footprint in the Midwest through this monumental acquisition and are excited that Susan and Jeff will be staying on for a short period to aid in the seamless transition of ownership. Franchising is how we became a nationwide enterprise, and we will continue to put processes in place, like BSO, to ensure its longevity."
"As we begin our next chapter, we take great ease in knowing our beloved home care agencies that we successfully operated and managed for nearly two decades will be under the best ownership with BrightStar Owned," said Jeff Tews, former BrightStar Care franchise owner. "The communities we served in Wisconsin will continue to receive high-quality home care under BSO, and we're excited to see how operations and services will evolve with the various resources and skills BSO has to offer this community."
This eight-unit deal is the largest BrightStar Owned acquisition since the brand expanded its footprint in August 2022. BrightStar Owned now has 30 agencies ranging from coast to coast, with a presence in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, South Carolina, Tennessee, and now Wisconsin.
