SCHENECTADY, N.Y., April 17, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The African Well Fund (AWF) is excited to announce its 21st annual Build a Well for Bono's Birthday campaign. Beginning May 1, AWF invites U2 fans from around the world to donate funds in honor of the U2 frontman's 63rd birthday. This year AWF is once again partnering with long-time partner Africare in their new iteration as PanAfricare.
Since 2003, AWF has joined together with the U2 fan community to celebrate and honor Bono's birthday by raising funds for clean water and sanitation projects. Since that time more than $300,000 has been raised in Bono's honor to fund the construction of clean water and sanitation projects that are benefiting more than 100,000 people in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
For BBW23, an anonymous donor from the U2 fan community has stepped forward to kick things off with a generous offer – they will match dollar for dollar the first 100 donations of $63 or more! This incredible offer will put us well on the way to our goal of $20,000! The money raised will be used to implement a water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and market gardening development project in the commune of Dassa in Burkina Faso.
From May 1 to May 31, fans may donate through the AWF website https://africanwellfund.org/build-a-well-for-bonos-birthday-2023/. As always, all donors are invited to add their name and a message to a birthday card that will be sent to Bono upon completion of the fundraiser.
