CLEVELAND, Dec. 30, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Time is running out for a chance to win a custom home for the holidays and make life changing wishes come true for so many critically ill children.
Make-A-Wish, OKI and the Home Builders Association's Charitable and Education Foundation along with News5/Cleveland created a Home for the Holidays, for a chance to win a half million-dollar home or a cash prize.
The goal is to sell 20,000 tickets by 6 p.m. New Year's Eve. The winner can choose an optional cash prize of $200,000 in lieu of the home, and if the goal is not met, a cash prize of at least $100,000 will be awarded.
The Make-A-Wish Chapter of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana (OKI) has gone from granting 800 wishes per year down to 531 with hundreds of wishes postponed due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
"Wishes transform children and families by giving them hope and the strength to fight against and even overcome a critical illness," said Make-A-Wish OKI Governing Board Member Dave Payne, whose family was the beneficiary of Make-A-Wish years ago when his younger brother was diagnosed with cancer. Payne continues to support the organization and remains passionate about its mission.
"Because wishes deliver hope and now more than ever, hope is essential," said Payne.
This year, Make-A-Wish, OKI was chosen as the charity of choice for the Home Builders Association of Greater Cleveland's Charitable & Education Foundation and with the help of more than 50 companies built a home valued at $495,000 in Strongsville's Seidel's Landing.
The pandemic suspended the ability for public tours of A Home for the Holidays; however, the website offers a virtual room-by-room tour of the home.
