DOYLESTOWN, Pa., May 5, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Tuesday, May 5th, 2020, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), one of the nation's leading veteran nonprofit organizations, will take part in the worldwide campaign of #GivingTuesdayNow. Giving Tuesday Now is a global day of giving and unity that has been organized in response to the unparalleled needs caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.
This campaign urges people to come together to drive a spike of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for nonprofits around the world who are contributing towards COVID-19 relief efforts. Typically Giving Tuesday takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year, and is recognized as a global day of giving and support for nonprofit organizations. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects on nonprofit organizations, a movement has been organized to move the calendar forward to create "Giving Tuesday Now" to help these nonprofits during their greatest time of need and fundraising.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, TMF has adapted its programs to operate virtually and is providing support to those in need through numerous campaigns. They've coordinated on-the-ground efforts to allow members to serve in place through methods like collecting supplies for healthcare workers, grocery shopping for those with medial risks or in need, donating blood, providing online educational support for overwhelmed parents, and establishing mental health and wellness check-ins for veterans and families of the fallen. TMF has mobilized its Spartan community through these initiatives, deemed "Character Isn't Canceled", which is highlighted in a short video that can be seen here.
Through the Giving Tuesday Now 24-hour give-a-thon TMF is hoping to raise $10,000 in donations. Funds will be dedicated to these serve-in-place initiatives nationwide, to ensure that our veterans and families of fallen military members receive the necessary support to help those in need during such a trying time.
"From our inception, Travis Manion Foundation has given families of the fallen a platform to not only continue a life of service, but to carry on the legacy of their loved one by helping others," said Amy Looney Heffernan, Vice President of Travis Manion Foundation. "Our veteran and survivor communities are all too familiar with overcoming adversity and having the faith that those who have your back will help you get through the most difficult of times. We are in complete awe seeing the number of people stepping forward to offer their services during one of our darkest times, and are proud to support their efforts to help those in need."

About Travis Manion Foundation
Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) unites communities to strengthen America's national character by empowering veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop and lead future generations. In 2007, 1st Lt. Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation's heroes lives on in the next generation.
With offices across the country, including Philadelphia, PA; New York City, NY; Washington D.C.; Baltimore, MD; Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX; San Diego, CA; and Seattle, WA; TMF has become one of the nation's leading veteran nonprofit organization, with over 130,000 members. The story of 1st Lt. Travis Manion and his Naval Academy brother Lt.
