Graduates from across the state were honored during the in-person graduation ceremony
TUMWATER, Wash., June 16, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Washington Connections Academy, a fully-accredited, tuition-free online public school, honored the school's 265 graduating high school seniors on June 15. The graduation ceremony was held at the Tacoma Convention Center where the Class of 2023 gathered in-person to celebrate alongside school staff, teachers and family members.
Washington Connections Academy's Class of 2023 consists of graduates from many cities and towns including Tacoma/Seattle area and Eastern Washington. Among the graduating class, 53% plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university, 11% plan to receive vocational training and 11% plan to join the workforce. Other graduates are joining the military, taking a gap year or pursuing other opportunities.
"It has been a pleasure to watch the graduating Class of 2023 grow as they've set goals for themselves and accomplished them one by one," said Jenn Francis, executive director at Washington Connections Academy. Among this year's graduates is Tacoma resident, Jazzmin Lane. Jazzmin joined Washington Connections Academy for her senior year and is grateful for the flexibility in her schedule. "I've really enjoyed my time at Washington Connections Academy," said Jazzmin. "I've been able to work at my own pace and get ahead on lessons when needed. The teachers are incredibly helpful and I've been able to participate in some cool field trips with my peers as well." Jazzmin received early acceptance to Washington State University, where she will study Zoology.
