62ABOVE, formerly known as i.d.e.a., today announces its debut as an independent agency with a growing client roster and new president. Based in San Diego, 62ABOVE embodies the thriving creative community from which it was born. The new name – 62ABOVE – honors the agency's hometown, as the heart of San Diego sits 62 feet above sea level.

In addition, agency veteran Greg Carson joins 62ABOVE in the newly created role of president. In this role, Carson will be focused on guiding the agency creatively and strategically. Carson started his career as a copywriter at Mering & Associates, and then served as Creative Director at J. Walter Thompson, Atlanta. After returning to Mering & Associates in 2000 as Partner & ECD, the agency was renamed MeringCarson in 2006 in acknowledgment of his contributions. Over the years, Carson has worked on acclaimed advertising campaigns for the NFL, Visit California, The Walt Disney Company, Tahiti Tourisme and Pebble Beach.

“Jon Bailey and I started our first agency in San Diego 25 years ago this month. In celebration of that milestone, we were ready for a brand renewal that reflected our deep love of our community, and the astonishing creative growth that’s happened in our city,” said CEO Indra Gardiner Bowers. “Greg Carson’s deep understanding of destination (and particularly of San Diego and California) are a perfect fit with our team.”

Leveraging its heritage in strategic and creative marketing, 62ABOVE will be focused on expanding its client base in hospitality/destination, packaged goods (especially good for you products) and social/cause organizations. With foundational roots in public relations and social media, the 62ABOVE team brings a 360-approach to its customized problem solving.

The agency is also unveiling ‘More Than a Place’, its new Super Bowl ad for Harrah’s Resort Southern California, which features the return of Rob Riggle as ‘Mayor’ of Funner, California. The spot will air regionally in San Diego and Las Vegas, with the Vegas spot offering a free room to any Nevada resident for one night in Funner, CA. Funner, California was created by the agency in 2016 and launched with the city's first Mayor, David Hasselhoff. In 2019, Rob Riggle was introduced as the new Mayor of Funner along with his trusty steed, Albert the Alpaca, at his side.

In addition, 62ABOVE recently added several new clients to its agency roster, including UPTIME Energy Drink and Love Catalina - Catalina Island Tourism Authority.

62ABOVE is proud to be fiercely independent, a certified B Corporation, and member of the global TAAN advertising agency network.
