65 Years of School Architecture Began with Two WWII Veterans

DALLAS, April 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Seventy-one years ago, in 1948, Ernie Wright and Joe Rich met when they enrolled in the Department of Architecture at the University of Texas in Austin. Both had previously served in World War II as combat aviators.
Ernie and Joe started architecture school at the University of Texas. By 1950 they decided to form a partnership after graduation. And because Ernie, before his military service, had already earned a degree in education, they decided to specialize in designing schools.
Wright-Rich & Associates Architects opened for business on April 4, 1954, sixty-five years ago. Now branded WRA Architects, the company has grown to over fifty employees and continues the original specialization in K-12 school design. The firm announced the addition of six new partners in January 2019 to continue to expand their portfolio of over 1,100 projects in K-12 education in Texas and Oklahoma. WRA Architects was also named Dallas Business Journal's No. 5 company in the Small category for Best Places to Work in 2018.
"From being a firm of twelve in my early days," says Keith Anderson, AIA, Partner, "we now have a team of over fifty. Our new partners' contributions to our clients and our work have given WRA an even stronger foundation to continue our tradition of high-quality service."
