7th Annual Chief Medical Officer Summit Announced by The Conference Forum

NEW YORK, Feb. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Conference Forum is pleased to announce the launch of the 7th Annual Chief Medical Officer Summit for the biotech industry on April 4-5, 2019 at the Hilton Boston Back Bay Hotel, Boston, Massachusetts. The CMO Summit is the only emerging biotech event in the country specifically for chief medical officer peer-to-peer learning, benchmarking and support.

"The role of the chief medical officer is absolutely central to the success of developing therapies in the biotech industry," explains Jennifer Moran, producer of the CMO Summit. 2019 Keynote, Dr Steve Kanes, CMO, Sage Therapeutics, shares his experience on navigating a new indication through the FDA as a young company.

Dr Bernie Zeiher, CMO and President, Development, Astellas, also keynotes on the large pharma perspective on partnering with biotech. Dr Zeiher offers valuable insights into what it takes to lead a successful partnership and the need for establishing mutual objectives early on to maximize value for both patients and partners.

Returning by popular demand, Ken Getz provides his annual drug development zeitgeist talk.

For the first time, the CMO Summit features therapeutic area-specific breakout sessions, providing the opportunity for attendees to exchange creative solutions, lessons learned and new pathways in their therapeutic areas. These sessions address some of the most novel fields in the biotech industry, including immuno-oncology, microbiome and gene therapy.

The fireside guest for 2019, Dr Jeffrey Chodakewitz, sits down with program co-chair Dr Julie Krop to share his incredible journey as CMO. Dr Chodakewitz discusses his successes and failures, and his experience transitioning from large pharma to small biotech.

They share insights on what to expect in the CEO role, the reality of creating opportunities, and how to deal with the potential hurdles when making that transition.
