8th Annual Desi Comedy Fest Returns to Northern California on Sunday October 23rd at The Palace Theater in San Francisco
This October, San Francisco Bay Area-based comedians Samson Koletkar and Abhay Nadkarni bring you the 8th annual "Desi Comedy Fest", a comedy festival featuring some of the funniest and most talented South Asian comedians.
SAN FRANCISCO , Sept. 25, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "We are excited to schedule this year's fest on the occasion of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. It's our first ever Diwali show and we're thrilled for our audiences to attend the fest. Last year, amid the pandemic, we held our shows outdoors, taking all necessary precautions to make it as safe as possible for the audiences and the comedians. We had a good run of 5 shows and decided to do it again this year with a double header at the majestic Palace Theater in San Francisco. I run weekly shows in the smaller space, and figured this classy theater is the perfect space to host our fest," says Abhay, one half of the brains behind the fest. "We showcase a diverse lineup of South Asian comedians every year and this year is no different. The comedians this year come from all over the U.S.; we decided not to approach any international comedians due to travel risks. After multiple inquiries from friends and fans about the feasibility of the fest this year, we decided not to skip, even if it meant doing a short run of 2 shows in a single night. As always, we handpicked the venue and the comedians that fit into our brand of comedy festival experience," says the world's only Indian Jewish standup comedian and Desi Comedy Fest co-founder, Samson Koletkar. Joining Samson and Abhay in this year's fest are Kaneez Surka (South African-Indian-American from New York, has featured on Netflix & Amazon Prime), Usama Siddiquee (Bengali-American from New York, has appeared on America's Got Talent, BET, & NBC), KC Shornima (Nepali-American from Austin, a semi-finalist in Stand-Up NBC and has performed on Kevin Hart's LOL Network), Zain Sharif (from Atlanta, founded GeorgiaTech's Geekapalooza Comedy Tour, and was featured on Adult Swim), Richard Sarvate (Indian-American from Los Angeles, has a Dry Bar Comedy Special and 1.5 million followers on TikTok).
