Advantia Health Acquires the Five-Office Practice of Virginia’s Physicians & Midwives
ARLINGTON, Va. (PRWEB) August 21, 2018 -- Advantia Health, a fast-growing innovative healthcare company focused on women’s health and the role women play as “chief medical officer” of their families, acquired the Virginia-based Physicians & Midwives practice and its five offices in Northern Virginia. In a little over four years, Advantia Health has grown-up to become a leading healthcare provider in Mid-Atlantic with more than 120 practicing providers.
The addition of Physicians & Midwives' five offices brings 9 additional physicians and 15 mid-level practitioners into Advantia Health. This acquisition further establishes Advantia’s growing footprint in the mid-Atlantic region, and expands access to its woman's health hub model. Advantia’s Woman’s Health Hub model, physically and clinically integrates primary care, behavioral health and other commonly utilized services into its OB/GYN practices, providing high quality coordinated services to meet women’s needs conveniently and at lower cost. Advantia’s expanding footprint in the mid-Atlantic region will lead to Advantia Health managing over 10,000-births in this region by early 2019.
“I was referred to Sean Glass (Co-founder, CEO Advantia Health) by someone who knew us both and thought that we shared the same interest in disrupting medical care, and he was correct! Sean echoed my deep passion in bringing convenient, compassionate care to the community. Teaming up with Advantia's expertise, financial leverage and foot print is just what the doctor ordered!” says Dr. David Giammittorio, founder and CEO of the Physicians & Midwives Collaborative Practice.
Dr. Giammittorio, was named one of the region’s “top doctors” in the obstetrics/gynecology category by Washingtonian magazine in 2008. Dr. Giammittorio was appointed to the Virginia Board of Medicine by Governor Bob McDonnell in October 2014 and was reappointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe to a four-year term in September 2016. In 2015, he agreed to serve on the Admissions Committee at his alma mater, The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Giammittorio is passionate about advancing the Physicians & Midwives mission of delivering convenient and compassionate care. He is responsible for the overall practice direction and governance of 25 providers and 50 support staff, but still reserves every Monday to see patients in the Alexandria office on Kenmore Avenue.
Five other physicians shared in the ownership of Physicians & Midwives: Dr. Kenneth Ahdoot, Dr. Mary E. Cutting, Dr. Denise Cunningham, Dr. Kimberly Kongkasuwan and Dr. Tabitha Andre. All nine staff physicians are certified Fellows of The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).
“Happy to add another great group. We are selective and Physicians & Midwives is exactly the type of group we want to partner with as we grow the reach of our Woman's Health Hub model,” explains Sean Glass, CEO and Co-founder of Advantia Health.
“We build on the trusted relationship that a woman shares with her OB/GYN,” says Dr. Peter Glass, Chief Medical Officer and Co-founder of Advantia Health “Technology and an innovative care model enables physicians and allied health professionals that join Advantia to thrive in a fast-changing healthcare environment while retaining the culture and benefits of an independent private practice.”
