Broker Bill Mitchell is on Par to Award Golf Scholarship
Carmel, IN (PRWEB) October 29, 2015 -- Last spring, Broker/Realtor and golf enthusiast, Bill Mitchell, announced The Mitchell Continuing Education Scholarship through the Indiana Golf Foundation. The purpose of the scholarship is to inspire and promote the attainment of higher education goals for high school seniors who have actively participated in the game of golf and have excelled academically.
“I am a strong proponent of higher education, and firmly believe that if our youth are well-educated, they will not be a burden on society, but rather productive members,” said Bill. “That is why I created The Mitchell Continuing Education Scholarship.”
Applicants for the scholarship must be nominated in writing by their high school golf coach or PGA professional. They must also have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale or 9.0 or higher on a 12.0 grading scale. Applicants must also have been employed in the golf industry in some capacity (e.g., caddie, bag room, driving range, golf shop, etc.). To fund the annual scholarship, The Mitchell Team is setting aside $100 from every closed real estate transaction that it completes each year.
“We are on track to close at least 50 transactions this year and therefore I will plan to announce the recipient of the first $5,000 scholarship in early spring of 2016,” said Bill. “As we start to finalize our 2015 closings and map out our plans for 2016, I hope we can increase our contribution by a minimum of 10 percent each and every year for the next 10 years.”
Bill’s goal with the scholarship is to lessen the financial burden of continuing education on our children and their parents so they can focus their attention on education, golf and life. “Had it not been for my education, golf and loyal real estate clients, I would not be in a position today to help provide an education for others,” said Bill. “I’ve been excited about this all year and can’t wait until I make our first announcement in a few months.”
