Counsel Financial Helps Grow Support for The Mikey’s Way Foundation
WILLIAMSVILLE, NY (PRWEB) May 23, 2016 -- Counsel Financial is proud to announce its seventh year of support for the Mikey’s Way Foundation annual fundraiser, the Drive for Dreams Gala and Golf Tournament, set to take place on August 7 and 8, 2016. The two-day event begins with the gala, featuring dinner, comedy, fabulous auction items and other surprises, and concludes with an unparalleled golf tournament the following day. Last week, the company’s employees successfully completed the “Counsel Challenge,” a competition in which donations are sought after to assist in preparation for the event’s silent auction and to garner sponsorship dollars.
As an active community member, Counsel Financial is honored to be involved with the Mikey’s Way Foundation in many capacities and also encourages its staff to actively participate in events connected to the charity. During the “Counsel Challenge,” employees called upon the Western New York community to donate silent auction items and sponsorship dollars. This year, the company’s staff raised over $12,000 in cash and in-kind donations.
Mikey’s Way Foundation (a 501(c)(3) organization) provides internet-ready electronics, such as iPads, laptop computer, tablets and netbooks, to hospitalized children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. These electronics provide patients direct connection to their parents, friends, family and schools, as well as offer crucial diversion from the pain and boredom of long-term treatment. Among the 22 hospitals nationwide that currently participate in the Mikey’s Way program, local hospitals Roswell Park and Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo are regular recipients of Mikey’s Way electronics. The “Mikey’s Way Connection Cart,” which circles the pediatric floors of hospitals across the country to distribute the electronics, has reached over 4,500 seriously ill children since 2005.
