In Loving Memory, Funeral Home Now Called Cruz-Sojka Funeral Home to Incorporate Old and New
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 09, 2015 -- Walter L. Sojka, a U.S. Army Master Sergeant and veteran of the Korean War, passed on last August. He was the founder and owner of Walter L. Sojka Funeral Homes. He willed his business to the associate director, Edwin H. Cruz, having worked side-by-side for many years. To honor the man he called family, Edwin kept Walter’s name when the ownership transferred over, now respectively, Cruz-Sojka Funeral Homes.
The funeral home originated in 1954 when Walter was just 23 years old. Through this time, Walter brought on Edwin, as the only employee. According to Edwin, “Walter first had the idea to go into the funeral business because he wanted to provide personal service. That carried over into him just saying hello to strangers and going that extra mile for people, if they needed help. Walter was truly like family to me and he will be missed. I hope that I can help to carry on his legacy throughout the community.”
