ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- This past October, The Eastman Community Music School (ECMS) celebrated the reopening of Messinger Hall with a dedication of the Karen Rettner Community Music Center. The newly renovated facility features a keyboard lab, classroom, percussion and drum set studios and 24 teaching studios. In addition, 21 new Yamaha P22 acoustic upright pianos were delivered to accommodate ECMS's growing enrollment numbers.

"The recent acquisition of these Yamaha pianos to reside in our newly renovated ECMS building and studios will provide our faculty and students excellent instruments with which to make and study music."
ECMS offers music lessons, ensembles, classes and workshops to roughly 1,600 students per year, ranging in age from 4 months to 92 years old. From pre-school and early childhood programs, to college prep and diploma programs, to adult ensembles and classes, ECMS nurtures and inspires students at all levels.
The Eastman School of Music was founded in 1921 by industrialist and philanthropist George Eastman, founder of Eastman Kodak Company and was the first professional school of the University of Rochester. About 550 undergraduate and 350 graduate students are enrolled in Eastman's Collegiate Division, with students representing nearly every state. Approximately 25 percent are from other countries. There are more than 95 full-time faculty members, three of whom have been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music along with six alumni. Numerous alumni and faculty have also received Grammy Awards. Each year, Eastman's students, faculty members and guest artists present more than 800 concerts to the Rochester community.
