Explore San Diego’s Modern Architecture + Design in October
SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) September 21, 2018 -- Some tour-goers search for inspiration for their next project; others hope to find an architect or home builder to work with; whatever the reasons may be, all tour-goers come to see a curated selection of San Diego homes that embody southern California’s modern architecture and design aesthetic.
On Saturday, October 13th, the Modern Architecture+ Design Society (MA+DS) returns to San Diego for the 2018 Modern Home Tour, presented by D3Home. The annual event gives regional architects, designers, and home builders the opportunity to showcase their work to the community in which they work. In turn, the self-guided tour gives the community an opportunity to engage the minds behind the designs and ask questions as they explore some of San Diego’s modern homes inside and out.
“The San Diego Modern Home Tour is one of our two California tours, and one we look forward to every year,” says MA+DS founder and president, James Leasure. “Southern California’s movement in modern architecture and design is quite special and unique. There is something new and exciting to see each year we come back, from modern renovations of older coastal homes, to brand new modern homes.”
To date, five homes have been accepted and confirmed for the 2018 San Diego Modern Home Tour. Participating architects and designers, and featured neighborhoods include:
- The brand-new, very modern Amineh House in Mission Hills designed and built by Nakhshab Development & Design
- A sleek modern home in University Heights redesigned and renovated by D. Diehl Designs
- A 2017 modern renovation by Duende Design + Construction of a 1947 home in Bay Park
- An L-shaped new modern home designed by Steven Lombardi Architects, sitting on top of a hill in Encinitas
- A second Duende Design + Construction renovation of a Bay Park home built in 1956
- A brand-new modern home in La Jolla, designed and built by Stone Lion Properties and J Walsh Construction
- A brand-new modern home designed by Primary Design and built by Tourmaline Properties located in Pacific Beach
The San Diego Modern Home Tour has named the San Diego Architectural Foundation as the tour’s non-profit beneficiary. Members of the SDAF, along with students from the Design Institute of San Diego and the American Society of Interior Designers chapter at San Diego State University, and the Mesa Interior Design Club of San Diego Mesa College will help staff the event.
The 6th annual San Diego Modern Home Tour is presented by D3Home. Participating homes will open their doors for viewing from 11AM – 5PM on Saturday, October 13th. Tickets to see all homes are $40 in advance and $50 on the day of the tour. Ages 12 and up are invited to attend. Details on participants can be found at http://www.sandiegomodernhometour.com
