FGA Investigates Third-Party Involvement in Executive Order 14019 and Future Voter Registration Processes
On Friday, FGA filed FOIA requests to multiple agencies in an effort to understand EO 14019 a law that aims to promote voter registration and participation through the federalization of election processes and the use of third-parties involvement.
NAPLES, Fla., Aug. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Friday, the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to multiple federal agencies requesting communications and documents related to Biden Executive Order (EO) 14019 titled "Promoting Access to Voting."
The information that is being requested may help determine whether or not the Biden administration is engaging in unethical and potentially criminal behavior related to benefits provided to third-party organizations. It may also help determine whether or not the administration is misusing federal resources to support voter registration efforts designed to unfairly benefit one political party over another.
EO 14019, issued in March, commands the head of every federal agency to submit a plan outlining the steps their agency will take to "promote voter registration and voter participation." It follows the same strategy published in a policy paper written by Demos, a left-leaning organization focused on federalizing elections and expanding the use of the DOJ Civil Rights Division to "[p]ursue aggressive civil and criminal enforcement" against all election integrity reforms.
Biden has also named former Demos President Rahman and former Demos Legal Strategies Director Bains to act in roles responsible for reviewing and coordinating regulatory actions taken by federal agencies to further this effort.
"This is a coordinated effort from left-leaning third parties and the Biden administration to use executive power and taxpayer resources for the purpose of federalizing elections and taking power away from the states," said Chase Martin, Legal Affairs Director at FGA. "With Biden's executive order, federal agencies are forced to work with administration-approved third parties and support their voter registration efforts. This presents a major conflict of interest, and we intend to get to the bottom of it. States everywhere should stand against this executive order that aims to undermine state election laws."
