A registered patent attorney, Buchanan prepares, files, and prosecutes U.S. and international patent applications related to technologies such as small molecules, antibodies, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and nanoparticles, for life science companies and academic institutions.
Buchanan has more than 20 years of experience working as a medicinal chemist in the pharmaceutical industry. He has contributed to programs covering compounds for the treatment of cancer, bacterial infections, inflammation, osteoporosis, and pain, and is the co-inventor of 14 patent applications, which have resulted in the issuance of 12 U.S. patents.
Buchanan obtained his J.D. from Boston College Law School, Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Hope College.
