RALEIGH, N.C., June 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- HNTB Corporation is today marking the 35th anniversary of its service to North Carolina. For more than three decades, the firm has maintained a continuous physical presence in the state to support North Carolina transportation agencies and other public and private clients in delivering mobility solutions that power local economies and strengthen communities.
A contract with the Raleigh-Durham International Airport to provide general engineering services established the firm's presence in North Carolina in 1984. Since then, HNTB has worked on projects in every one of the state's 100 counties, and today employs nearly 150 multidisciplinary professionals across North Carolina. Primary offices are in Raleigh and Charlotte.
HNTB has grown to become the number one provider to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Significant contributions to the state's transportation infrastructure include serving as program manager for the LYNX Blue Line light rail extension in Charlotte; general engineering consultant for North Carolina Turnpike Authority's Triangle and Monroe Expressways; construction manager for the elevated roadway at Charlotte Douglas International Airport; and designer for I-26 widening near Asheville. In addition, HNTB has served the City of Raleigh, the City of Charlotte and North Carolina Rail Road.
"North Carolina is on the move with a growing population, a high quality of life and a vibrant economy that demands a robust, sustainable transportation network," said Spencer Franklin, PE, vice president and Carolinas office leader for HNTB. "We're proud of our 35-year legacy and we are here to continue collaborating with our valued clients to strengthen communities, facilitate mobility and ensure the region's momentum continues."
In addition to critical transportation projects, HNTB employees in North Carolina support many industry and civic organizations, including the Carolinas Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies, American Society of Highway Engineers, the Carolinas Aviation Museum, Women's Transportation Seminar and the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance.
HNTB's commitment to helping the region prosper also is reflected in the firm's growth. HNTB seeks talented professionals to work on major programs. Positions will be filled in civil engineering, roadway design, bridge design and inspection, project management, intelligent transportation systems and more.
