About the Author
Major Ian C Mattison, MInst RE, was commissioned into the Royal Engineers in 1976, and he completed operation tours of Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, Sierra Leone and Iraq. Posted on several occasions to Minley Station, Mattison has been associated with Minley Manor for nearly 40 years and assisted in the successful sale of the estate in 2014. He retired as a major, and he is also the founder of a military charity and gives talks on Minley Manor and the origin of the British Army. Mattison is married to Linda, and he has two children, Simon and Carla, and one grandson, George.
