J. Walter Thompson Announces the 2018 HLR Scholarship Winners
NEW YORK (PRWEB) October 26, 2018 -- J. Walter Thompson announced today the unique women selected for this year’s class of Helen Lansdowne Resor (HLR) Scholarship recipients.
Now in its fourth year, the HLR Scholarship offers each one of our recipients up to $10,000 to be applied toward her education, an internship at a JWT office, one-on-one mentorship and a first-look placement at JWT after graduation.
Through the opportunities made possible by the HLR Scholarship, many of our past winners have moved into prestigious creative roles within the global industry. For example, Yanci Wu, our 2016 HLR Scholarship recipient from Asia Pacific, stayed within the WPP network working as a User Experience Designer at AKQA. Just this last year, Simoul Alva, our 2017 HLR Scholarship recipient from South Asia, became a Graphic Design intern at an agency in New York and won the Patrick Kelly Scholarship from The One Club for Creativity.
Bas Korsten, Creative Partner at JWT Amsterdam, and Ricardo John, Chief Creative Officer and Chief Executive Officer at JWT Brazil, reviewed the finalists’ applications and selected this year’s final five winners. Ricardo said, “I’m honored to have been part of the selection process for this year’s HLR Scholarship recipients. These talented young women represent a new generation that will lead the movement for a creative industry that is more authentic and inclusive than ever before.”
This year’s recipients are:
MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA: Miselo Matipa, a Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies major at St. John's College.
EUROPE: Ana Karen Jiménez Barba, an Art Direction major at the Miami Ad School Europe.
SOUTH ASIA: Aumika Shetty, an Information Arts and Information Design major with a focus in Visual Communication and Strategic Branding at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore.
NORTH AMERICA: Jasmine Stevens, currently studying for a Master's in Advertising at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse. She holds a BA in Journalism from Texas Tech University.
LATIN AMERICA: Marita Guzman, currently working as a Junior Art Director at TBWA in Buenos Aires. She previously studied Creative Art Direction at the Miami Ad School.
