Mahatma Moses Comedy Tour Re-premieres in San Francisco Bay Area
An Indian, a Jew and an Indian Jew walk onto a stage. Sounds like a set-up for a joke, doesn't it? Well, it's no joke, but it does set up a very funny evening of cross-cultural comedy in the multi-ethnic San Francisco Bay Area.
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- An Indian, a Jew, and an Indian Jew walk onto a stage. Sounds like a set-up for a joke, doesn't it? Well, it's no joke, but it does set up a very funny evening of cross-cultural comedy in the multi-ethnic San Francisco Bay Area. Abhay Nadkarni (an Indian Hindu), Joe Nguyen (a Vietnamese Jew), and Samson Koletkar (an Indian Jew) bring their hilarity and their disparity to the stage. Three individuals with overlapping identities but unique perspectives share some absurdities, anomalies, and adventures that are guaranteed to make you laugh.
Indian Jewish comedian Samson Koletkar launched The Mahatma Moses Comedy Tour back in 2010. After 17 shows in 10 cities, he launched several others shows and comedy festivals, most notably "Desi Comedy Fest" the biggest South Asian comedy festival in America & "Comedy Oakland" 2016-2022 Best Comedy Night Winner in East Bay Express Reader's Poll. Along the way, he was named one of Top 10 Indian-Origin Comedians Of The Last Decade by BookMyShow and 10 Indian Comedians Who Found Success in the U.S. by Silicon India.
After a decade of hosting the weekly Oakland shows and the annual Desi Comedy Fest, where he usually performs shorter sets, he decided it was time to re-focus on what he loved most – entertaining his audience with longer performances. His satirizing of religion, tradition, patriotism, & superstition, mixed with sarcastic observations about day-to-day things around us, makes for a rollercoaster of a comedy show.
Joe Nguyen's path to comedy began in the state of Georgia where he was born to a Vietnamese immigrant and a Caucasian Jew from the Dominican Republic. Upon moving to California, he developed a moderate disdain for nonsense that is best captured in his humorous routines. He has won the Russian River Resort Comedy Competition and is a regular on the Bay Area comedy scene. Joe was part of the original Mahatma Moses Comedy Tour and has also toured with Samson on the You're Funny But You Don't Look Jewish show in 42 cities across USA & Canada.
Abhay Nadkarni moved from South India to South Central Los Angeles, via the Middle East, to pursue grad school. A gifted voice artist, he's appeared on NBC, CBS, "America from Abroad" with Rob Delaney and been featured in the Huffington Post. He co-founded the Desi Comedy Fest with Samson, and also performed with him on 20 shows in India during the Desi Comedy Fest Motherland Tour.
Don't be fooled by their complicated last names. This team of talented performers has an uncomplicated approach to comedy that covers every relevant topic you can think of – race, religion, food, philosophy, and more. Put on your thinking caps and enjoy the clean, smart, highbrow comedy of the Mahatma Moses Comedy Tour.
