MaintenX International Supports Tampa’s Fight Against Breast Cancer
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) October 23, 2018 -- Each October, groups across the U.S. recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To honor the women and men who have been impacted by breast cancer, MaintenX formed a team of more than 20 runners to help support breast cancer research and patient support in Tampa Bay by running in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Treasure Chest 5K + Fun Run.
“This is a great opportunity to support our team members and also help create awareness in the Tampa Bay community,” said Mary Ann Velez, MaintenX’s National Director of Service, who organized the company run this year. “We are proud to support our employees who have breast cancer survivors in their family and are familiar with the struggle.”
This was the 6th Annual Treasure Chest 5K + Fun Run, hosted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This year, all runners had the opportunity to cross the finish line in the all-new Bucs indoor practice facility and stay to watch the Bucs take on the Cleveland Browns in the NFL breast cancer awareness game. Proceeds benefited a number of community organizations focused on breast cancer, including Florida Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center, Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
In addition to running the race, MaintenX is having breast cancer awareness shirts made for technicians to wear during the month of October. Velez said, “There’s a quote that goes ‘Sometimes we need someone to simply be there. Not to fix anything, or to do anything in particular, but just to let us feel that we are cared for and supported.’ While MaintenX can’t cure cancer, we hope we can always be there to show we care.”
