Morrison & Foerster Further Strengthens Cross-Border Corporate Capabilities With New Tokyo Partner
Jeremy White brings significant experience to the firm's market-leading Japan corporate practice; further cements position as top international law firm in Japan.
TOKYO, Oct. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Morrison & Foerster, a leading global law firm, is pleased to announce that Jeremy White has joined its Tokyo office as a partner in the Corporate Department. Mr. White brings to the firm more than 20 years of experience in cross-border M&A, carve-outs, and joint ventures. His arrival further cements Morrison & Foerster's position as the top international law firm in Japan.
Mr. White's joining also follows the addition of Corporate partner Nozomi Oda less than a year ago, and further builds on the firm's premier corporate practice in Japan, which continues to advise on industry-changing deals and win external recognition. This includes recently representing SoftBank in its $40 billion sale of Arm to NVIDIA—the largest global M&A transaction announced to date in 2020 and the largest semiconductor deal— and advising Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. in its $550 million asset acquisition of the Canadair Regional Jet program from Bombardier Inc.
Mr. White's practice focuses on both inbound and outbound M&A, sales of business divisions, spin-outs, and joint ventures. He has a particular emphasis on advising clients in the manufacturing and transportation industry as well as the healthcare and technology sectors.
"Jeremy is a highly regarded and well connected M&A partner in Tokyo and his practice naturally aligns with our offering in the Japanese market," said Ken Siegel, Managing Partner of Morrison & Foerster's Tokyo office. "Jeremy's joining will help us further meet our clients' growing cross-border needs—outbound in particular—at a time when the Japanese M&A market remains resilient."
Mr. White's notable matters include representing a Japanese listed tech company in connection with more than 10 separate transactions across the Americas, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe (M&A and JVs); a Japanese listed trading house with more than 15 transactions across the Americas, Asia, and Europe (M&A and JVs); a global listed pharmaceutical company with its joint venture formation, sale, and licensing matters; a Japanese beverage producer on more than 10 transactions across the globe (multiple M&A, JVs, and licensings); and a global bank with its joint venture formation and later disposal.
"Morrison & Foerster has a highly impressive offering in the Japanese market. The combination of its renowned and distinctive bengoshi practice with a strong global corporate platform provides an excellent fit for my practice," said Mr. White. "I am excited to join this group of market-leading lawyers who place so much emphasis on collaboration. I look forward to advising the firm's clients on their inbound and outbound transactions."
Mr. White is recommended in the latest editions of Chambers & Partners, IFLR, and The Legal 500 for M&A in Japan. The latter recommends him as a "Tier 1 Leading Individual."
Mr. White holds a B.A. in Modern History from Oxford University and earned his L.P.C. from the College of Law. He is admitted to practice in England & Wales and is a registered foreign lawyer in Japan.
