SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Dec. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- After proving to be a popular program with over 50 kids in attendance and over 30 on the waitlist for just one week of camp this past summer, Nike Volleyball Camp at the Sierra Canyon School decided to add more sessions for 2020. The new additions will include multiple sessions of serving clinics, all skills camps, and position specialty clinics.
Stefanie Wigfall, the Sierra Canyon Varsity volleyball head coach, is set to run all new additions of camp meaning more opportunities for volleyball players in the surrounding Chatsworth area to train with an elite level coach. Wigfall recently led the Trailblazers to the Division I State Championships semi-finals and ranks #21 in the country on MaxPreps Xcellent 25 and ranks #9 in the state of California. With her dedication and advanced coaching knowledge, Wigfall will bring elite instruction to these new California volleyball camps.
This past summer, the volleyball camp at the Sierra Canyon School hosted only one week of an All Skills camp. After attracting many players from the San Fernando Valley, this upcoming summer will offer three weeks of the All Skills camp. During this time, boys and girls of all ability levels will work on elevating their fundamentals through drill work designed to fit their skill.
The new Position Specialty volleyball clinic follows directly after the All Skills camp and allows players to hone their skills in a specific position for the duration of the clinic. Wigfall and her staff will help campers develop the proper mechanics for each position through specialized training and drills used by elite-level athletes.
During a match, there is one skill that can change and dominate the game, and that is serving. The new half-day serving clinics, offered in the spring and summertime, are designed to help players improve in that skill. Under Wigfall's instruction, players will learn about the various types of serves such as float or jump serve, as well as improve their technique.
