Paul Calvin, VP/GM of Yamaha Keyboard Division Retires; Dan Rodowicz Promoted
BUENA PARK, Calif. (PRWEB) July 11, 2018 -- Paul Calvin is retiring from his role as Vice President/General Manager, Keyboard division, Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA) and Dan Rodowicz, has been promoted to the position of General Manager, Keyboard division. The announcement was made by Garth Gilman, YCA corporate vice president.
Calvin’s retirement, which is effective in August, comes after 25 years with Yamaha. Calvin started his career at YCA in 1991 as a District Manager for what was then known as the Piano division, calling on a four-state area surrounding Missouri. After a brief hiatus to work at Jordan Kitts Music from 1994-1996, Calvin rejoined YCA as a Product Manager and was promoted to Marketing Manager in 1997. In 2002, Calvin was promoted to Assistant General Manager, then in 2003 was named General Manager of the Piano division. In 2007, he was promoted to his current position of Vice President/General Manager of the Keyboard division. During his tenure, Calvin has led several key initiatives, including the Total Piano Project, as well as co-development of the company’s successful flooring program. He also led the institutional project which resulted in the creation of the Institutional Solutions Group (ISG), which shows the institutional benefits of Yamaha keyboard products and services, improves dealer sales skills within the institutional market and builds on the relationships, sales, support and strategies that have been successful in the company’s increased presence in the institutional music community.
A veteran manager with three decades of institutional, music education and retail experience, Rodowicz previously held the position of National Sales Manager, ISG, which he will continue to oversee in his new role as General Manager, Keyboard division.
Rodowicz joined YCA in 1996 as a Product Specialist for the Piano division. In 2001, Rodowicz was promoted to District Manager, then in 2004 to Business Development Specialist. In 2008, he was named Market Development Manager, and Western Regional Manager, Keyboard division in 2010.
Prior to joining Yamaha, Rodowicz accumulated experience teaching private and group piano and served as an adjunct faculty member at Temple University. Other elements of his background include winning the Yamaha National Electone Festival, receiving a Gold Record—he played on four songs on the 1987 LeVert album “The Big Throwdown”—and serving as the organist for the Oakland (California) Athletics.
