Planeteer Capital launches debut, climate-first venture firm
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 23, 2023 -- Planeteer Capital, a new venture capital firm that partners with Pre-Seed and Seed stage climate founders as their lead investor, launches today in New York City. Planeteer’s Managing Partner, Sophie Purdom, co-founded Climate Tech VC (CTVC), a strategic research and content platform that powers the new climate economy.
Since early 2020, CTVC has tracked $100B+ of venture capital invested into thousands of climate technology companies. With an audience of 50,000+ subscribers, CTVC is referenced as the leading industry source on climate tech and has unique visibility into sector-level and company-level growth.
Sophie has invested in 18 climate companies including Remora, WeaveGrid, Amogy, Sinai, and Patch - often as the earliest, climate-first investor.

Planeteer is anchor funded by an unnamed Ivy League endowment and backed by Limited Partners including a diverse group of institutional investors, large family offices, venture funds, and exited entrepreneurs, including Meta’s former CTO Mike Schroepfer.

Hannah Friedman joined Sophie to launch Planeteer in 2022 from Closed Loop Partners. Hannah formerly invested across critical mineral recovery, biobased consumer products, and intelligent supply chains, including investments into SOLARCYCLE, Rebundle, Partsimony, Fillogic, and Ucrop.it.
