MANSFIELD, Texas, March 23, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Design-build construction firm Ramtech Building Systems of Mansfield, TX has announced that the company has received two first-place Awards of Distinction at this year's Modular Building Institute 2021 World of Modular Digital Conference and Tradeshow. The conference was the first ever virtual event hosted by the MBI, a direct response by the trade group to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the changes that were required to switch from a scheduled in-person program that was to be held March 8-12 in San Diego.
Ramtech received a first first-place award in the Permanent Modular Assembly Under 10,000 Square Feet category for an addition to the existing passenger terminal at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City Beach, Florida. The Type IIB all-steel modular building was connected to the existing terminal structure using a site-built corridor. The nine factory-built modular sections were manufactured in three sizes to meet the building's required configuration and installed by welding them onto a poured-in-place concrete pier foundation system. The 7,168 square foot project significantly increased the available passenger capacity and seating areas for the two gates that serve the airport's regional jet operators.
The second award received was also a first-place trophy in the Permanent Modular Correctional category for a police department headquarters building completed for the City of Cottonwood Shores, TX. The 2,184 square foot facility provided additional space and room for growth for the city's five-officer police force. The modular building was constructed using Ramtech's pier and beam permanent modular construction approach, with the modular sections installed on a stem wall foundation system. The building replaced a small, aging 720 square foot facility that was declared too structurally unsound for occupancy and could not be repaired or added on to.
