WARRENDALE, Pa., Nov. 19, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SAE International announced that mobility industry veteran Dean Case has been awarded with its second annual SAE International Contributor of the Year Award. Mr. Case, who serves as a communications consultant, was recognized for his ongoing commitment to advancing the future of mobility through involvement in SAE activities. The award, along with recognition for SAE's entire 2020 Contributor of the Year Class, was presented during a virtual ceremony on November 17.
"In 2018, SAE had a vision to establish an annual event dedicated to recognizing the individuals whose contributions to SAE and the mobility industry went way above and beyond," said Donna Edenhart, director of membership and community engagement at SAE International. "The Contributor of the Year is a celebration of the stories from our all-star contributors who volunteer their time to help SAE fulfill its mission."
An active SAE Member since his freshman year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1981, Mr. Case was a student leader, including being an SAE-sponsored WISE (Washington Internships for Students of Engineering) intern. He served as a board member with both the SAE Southern California and Detroit Sections. He has been a Distinguished Younger Member, awarded a FISITA Young Engineer Fellowship, sponsored more than 50 new SAE Members, served on multiple SAE International committees, published two SAE papers and spoken at dozens of universities for more than 30 years.
Added Mr. Case: "Many people helped me early in my career, so I feel passionate about mentoring and connecting. I'm confident in the future of our industry and hopefully we can continue to get more students to engage in SAE at various levels—whether it's AWIM [SAE's A World In Motion® program], local sections or tech committees."
In 2019, Mr. Case was influential in supporting dozens of students to continue as SAE Professional Members after graduation. He gave presentations to students and young professionals at the 2019 WCX™ World Congress Experience in Detroit, participated in SAE's Student University Days initiative, was a featured guest in the SAE's online Mentor Mixer series, and is the most requested presenter in the organization's Industrial Lecture Series program.
Mr. Case stood out among the more than 60,000 SAE volunteers for dedicating his time, knowledge and passion for the betterment of the mobility community through support of SAE activities. All members of the 2020 Contributor of the Year Class were nominated by SAE International staff based on their wide-ranging volunteer and engagement contributions across the organization.
