SatRevolution Announces Innovative Earth-observation Shared Services Mission for mid-2021
SatRevolution (satrevolution.com) today announced an innovative Earth-observation shared services mission to launch in the middle of 2021.
WROCLAW, Poland, July 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SatRevolution (satrevolution.com), a forerunner of the space industry in Poland, today announced an innovative Earth-observation shared services mission to launch in the middle of 2021.
The 2021 mission, called STORK, will closely follow the SatRevolution's mission SW1FT (Swift), which will launch this December on SpaceX Falcon 9 rideshare launch. Both missions are equipped with SatRevolution's optical payload Vision 300, capable of capturing images of up to 5 m resolution.
Initially hosted payload missions, both SW1FT and STORK were quickly requalified into Earth-observation services missions following market feedback. "There are a lot of companies in the market right now who can build a cubesat," said Grzegorz Zwolinski, Co-founder and CEO of SatRevolution. "Some of these cubesats can even reach an orbit. But based on what our customers were saying, we felt our missions needed a competitive edge. We figured our expertise in optical payloads and Earth-observation technology would make our solutions stand out from the rest".
SatRevolution STORK is based on the tried and tested 3U cubesat NanoBus platform. It currently still has available capacity, and the mission is open for external payloads. SatRevolution is looking to add value by providing additional Earth Observation capabilities and services. STORK is scheduled to launch to Sun Synchronous Orbit to suit a variety of orbital needs and use cases. Once the satellite is commissioned, SatRevolution will start imagery data and services provision to its customers.
The innovative shared nature of the mission allows multiple customers to utilize a single platform. Hardware and software providers, as well as current and potential users of imagery data and services, can benefit from decreased capital and operational expenses. Based on such solutions, SatRevolution, along with other prominent companies in the newspace industry, are playing a part in the democratization of access to space and its products.
