“Shoe In For Foster Care” Aims for 10,000 Shoes
Columbia, MO (PRWEB) April 08, 2014 -- May is Foster Care Awareness Month. The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association (CMFCAA) is raising awareness for Missouri’s foster children with the “Shoe In For Foster Care” campaign by collecting donated shoes and lining the Capitol Lawn outside the Missouri State Capitol Building in Jefferson City, MO with shoes from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
CMFCAA’s goal is to collect at least 10,000 pairs of donated shoes, representing each of the more than 10,000 children currently in foster care programs through the state of Missouri.
CMFCAA staff members will be on hand at the event to promote the organization and answer questions about child foster care programs in Mid-Missouri.
StorageMart locations in Columbia and Jefferson City, Missouri are hosting the “Shoe In For Foster Care” shoe drive. Donated shoes will be accepted from April 9 to May 12 at each of the following StorageMart locations during office hours:

“Collaboration with partners like StorageMart is what allows CMFCAA to shine a spotlight on children in foster care,” DeAnna Alonso, Executive Director CMFCAA, said. “With May being Foster Care Awareness Month, we’re inviting everyone to join with CMFCAA and StorageMart to put their ‘Shoe In For Foster Care’ by helping us to collect one pair of shoes for each child in foster care in the state of Missouri.”
Following the event, CMFCAA will gift the donated shoes to Hope for Caribbean Kids, Inc., who will work in coordination with the Shoeman Water Project to sell the shoes to help fund the building of schools in Haiti and clean water programs in both Haiti and Kenya.
