Internet technology pioneer Mei Lin Fung founded the People Centered Internet chaired by internet co-creator, Vint Cerf, because she has always been committed to new technology that serves people and enhances their health and lives. Fung's efforts attracted the attention of dry eye, evaporation and eye mist researcher, Sharon Kleyne and led to Kleyne's invitation to Fung to join her as a special guest.

At 14, growing up in Singapore, Fung was strongly influenced by George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. I also thought that we can decide that all people should have the right to find joy and happiness on the internet. It's all about how we end up becoming connected to the information we generate," Fung added.

Kleyne and Fung also discussed the internet of things, hoping to educate their global audience about many relationships they may take for granted. "The internet of things connects things to people," Fung said. "The refrigerator is a good example. On the fridge, a sensor informs you that it is out of milk. Imagine the journey of a grain of rice from the field in which it was grown all the way to your table. Imagine putting the rice on the table in front of your children," Fung continued. "Imagine being able to show them where it was grown, how it was harvested, the ship that transported it, the cup that measured it. Think of the benefits!"

Kleyne and Fung agreed that we are all pioneers at the threshold of a brave new world in which internet technology serves the daily interests and improves the health of people everywhere.
