Towson University Selects rSmart Cloud Express to Manage Grant Lifecycle
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 -- rSmart, a leader in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for higher education, announced today Towson University has selected rSmart Cloud Express for Kuali Coeus to further improve the university’s research administration efficiencies and serve as a single, reliable source for proposal, award, and compliance information.
In 2012, Towson University set a strategic goal to transform all paper-based processes related to research administration and primary compliance support to an electronic format. As a primarily undergraduate institution, the central office manages approximately 400 proposals per year, but had limited capital resources, a slim training budget, and was required to use only existing staff positions to accomplish their goal.
“Our sponsored programs office evaluated a variety of low-cost tools and utilized a combination of software programs, including an Access database and SharePoint, to transfer information electronically and track proposals,” said Amy Taylor, Assistant Vice President of Research at Towson University. “We reduced a five-day approval process to just hours, but were still missing the flexibility of a comprehensive electronic research administration solution that could take us from start to finish on a grant.”
After a formal evaluation, Towson selected Cloud Express, built on open source, community-developed Kuali Coeus software, to streamline the many tasks involved in pre-award, post-award and compliance management within a single, cloud-based system.
Cloud Express will help Towson electronically manage their research activities by:
- Streamlining pre- and post-award processes to increase efficiencies and lower costs
- Simplifying management, tracking, and reporting on research compliance
- Improving oversight with timely and reliable reporting
