In the fall of 1967, Vicon's founder, the late Donald Horn, launched his startup company in the basement of his home in Huntington, NY. Initially, Vicon designed and manufactured optics and CCTV components that were primarily geared towards the residential market. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Vicon became a leading pioneer in video surveillance, paving the way for modern Pan-Tilt-Zoom technologies, among numerous other cutting-edge innovations.
