BayAreaCIO recognized chief information officers in eight key categories – Leadership, Super Global, Global, Large Enterprise, Enterprise, Large Corporate, Corporate, & Public Sector. The BayAreaCIO ORBIE Awards were presented virtually.

- Tom Rodden, CIO & SVP, Varian Medical Systems received the Large Enterprise ORBIE for organizations over $1.5 billion annual revenue.
- Christopher Desautel, SVP & CDO, Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies received the Enterprise ORBIE, for organizations over $1.3 billion annual revenue.
- Colleen Berube, CIO & SVP Operations, Zendesk received the Large Corporate ORBIE for organizations over $700 million annual revenue.
- Kumud Kalia, CIO, Guardant Health received the Corporate ORBIE for organizations up to $700 million annual revenue.
- Edward Kopetsky, SVP & CIO, Stanford Children's Health received the Public Sector ORBIE for healthcare, education, & public sector organizations.
The CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards is the premier technology executive recognition program in the United States. Since inception in 1998, over 1,800 CIOs have been honored as finalists and over 400 CIO of the Year winners have received the prestigious ORBIE Award.
