WATSONS CREEK, Australia, May 4, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "Three family members and I were involved in a horrific high speed head on collision in 2013, which left me with multiple broken bones, and resulted in a six year recovery. I wrote the book firstly as a legacy to pass on to my family, but in the process discovered that it was being therapeutic and helpful to my emotional recovery. I wrote the book as warts and all account of the roller coaster journey I lived over that six-year period," Dean Skewes states.
In "I Drove a Red Car to a Better Me" (published by Balboa Press AU), Skews draws on his life experiences as a sheep shearer and farmer in sharing a life-changing journey that he and his family went on after a horrific car accident. He fought physical and emotional battles on a personal level while he and his wife battled the worst drought their family farm had experienced in 100 years. These experiences pushed him to the limit of what he thought he could handle, but in the end, it redefined him as a better person.
"We are exposed at every turn these days to negative news and suffering. It can be overwhelming but ultimately, we need to deal with our own dramas, and struggles," Skewes says. "I managed to battle my way through a situation not of my choosing, or desire, and maybe, some of the ways I found to deal and cope with my dramas, can be of benefit to others as well."
When asked what he wants readers to take away from this book, Skewes answers, "I would like readers to take a message of hope from my book, to find a path through life's dramas, and maybe, better themselves in the process." He adds, "I have now made the acquaintance of the better me. I am rather impressed. I hope he is proud of me and is ever mindful of how he came to be."
