HOUSTON, Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A&C Plastics, a local Houston plastic sheeting distributor, along with the Faulk Foundation hosted an Adopt-A-Family drive on December 15, 2018, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, serving local Houston families in need.
Ikea donated four truckloads of home goods to distribute to families that applied for help. More than 60 volunteers attended the event and over twenty-five different families were provided with:
- Furniture
- Cleaning supplies
- Toiletries
- Toys
- Bedding
- Bath Towels
- Backpacks
- And More
More than 50 mattresses were given away along with over $20,000 in grocery store gift cards. There was something for all ages to ensure holidays were enjoyable for everyone. Santa even made an appearance to the delight of all the children who were in attendance.
"This was my first-year volunteering so I wasn't sure what to expect. After seeing how many families we helped, I will definitely help out next year," said Blake Mcdermott, a sales representative at A&C Plastics. "We gave upwards of 100 people the things they needed that they didn't already have. We even provided a hot meal and Christmas gifts! This is by far one of the most rewarding drives I've had the opportunity to be a part of."
Over the years, A&C Plastics has been involved in several events and programs to help the community. When Hurricane Harvey hit in 2017, A&C Plastics worked with the Faulk Foundation to provide relief to disaster-stricken communities. By using the company's resources and partnering with other local businesses, they were able to give families cleaning supplies, toiletries, furniture, building materials, household items, and other necessities during the aftermath.
