A Company Revolutionizing Biometric Security Was Featured on NewsWatch Television
(PRWEB) June 26, 2015 -- “IDEX” was featured on NewsWatch as part of its monthly Tech Report, which features the latest and coolest technology products available to consumers. Andrew Tropeano, a technology expert and the host of NewsWatch, conducted the review and shared with viewers how this company is revolutionizing biometric security with their advanced fingerprint sensor.
In the past few years, consumers have come to expect a certain level of security in phones. First it was passwords, now it’s biometric security – basically a fingerprint. One company that’s revolutionizing this is IDEX.
“IDEX is a fingerprint sensor company. We have a lot of deep institutional knowledge in biometrics and know-how,” said Thar Casey, President of IDEX America.
Their latest technology, the Eagle Touch Sensor, consists of relatively few pieces. The sensing array, which is the interface of the finger, and the ASIC, which processes the information to generate the image. Typically, the ASIC is made out of silicon, which is the main cost driver of the fingerprint sensor.
IDEX has developed an off-chip sensing technology to separate the ASIC from the sensing array. The ASIC, which must be in silicon, can be a much smaller size, thus lowering the cost of the sensor, and the sensing array can be any material, including ceramic, polymer or even glass. This fingerprint technology not only will be available on phones, but also in wallets. They’re working to have it embedded in an ISO Smart Card.
