A December to Remember in Provincetown!
PROVINCETOWN, Mass. (PRWEB) November 16, 2018 -- December in Provincetown means it’s time for its exciting annual shopping experience. Come discover Provincetown and check every place off your list. There are such unique independently-owned shops and the shop-keepers are the thoughtful, creative types who offer exceptional, special, and one-of-a-kind items, which make for perfect gifts! And there’s also the annual month-long Holiday Market and Skating Rink at The Canteen, located at 255 Commercial St., open every weekend from November 24th through January 1st. Here shoppers will discover the wares of over 25 local vendors, featuring items like jewelry, holiday decorations, leather goods, and even something for your pooch! There will be food and music, a bonfire or two, and maybe a visit from Santa...It is truly a holiday hub.
We kick off the holiday month with Holly Folly which runs from, November 30th-Sunday, December 2nd. It’s an exciting celebration featuring the Holly Folly Shop Hop and Stroll, where shoppers are eligible to win fantastic prize baskets for shopping with participating stores. There’s the holiday market, Jingle Bell Run and Champagne Brunch (a Santa run in bathing suits), dance parties, sing-alongs, and drag bingo, to just name a few events. The Boston Gay Men’s Chorus will be performing Brass & Bows & Boys at Provincetown Town Hall on Saturday, December 1st. 200 members of the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus sing traditional favorites and modern classics. Always a fabulous time.
During Holly Folly, the Soup Kitchen in Provincetown (SKIP) presents their annual “Souper Saturday” on December 1st from 11:30am-3:30pm at Tin Pan Alley, 269 Commercial St. Sample hearty soups from over two dozen local restaurants for just $5 and support an excellent cause. The Soup Kitchen is central to the residents of Provincetown and will serve over 15,000 hot delicious meals, bringing our winter community together while providing warmth, comfort, and good food.
And to round out the weekend, The Purple Feather, located at 334 Commercial St., presents its annual Gingerbread House Competition, with all entries in by Friday, November 30th. There are three different categories and prizes will be awarded by a panel of judges. An additional “People’s Choice” vote will also be held all weekend.
The incredible Outer Cape Chorale returns to enchant us all on Friday December 7th and Saturday December 8th at 7:00 PM at Provincetown Town Hall. Established in 2002, this chorale continues to astonish and amaze audiences with the melodious beauty of 120 talented Cape Coders. This is a not-to-be-missed free concert but donations are accepted.
Last but certainly not least, we usher in the New Year Provincetown-style. First Light is a four-day celebration happening from December 28th-January 2nd. Come and watch or ride in the Lite Brite Bike Ride, catch a show, join the Polar Bear Plunge (January 1st at 11 a.m.), and eat at one of our gourmet restaurants. Fireworks will be held on the beach on Sunday, December 30th at 5:30pm. It’s a festive time in one of the most festive places in the world. Welcome 2019 in Provincetown.
There really is something for everyone in this oasis, haven, and amazing town. December is Provincetown at its finest.
