A. H. Ducharme Presents a Fresh Take on the Christmas Story
Cerritos, Calif. (PRWEB) March 27, 2014 -- Inspired by his cat Topper and the Christmas season, author Alphee Henri Ducharme penned the Christmas story “Topper and the Stable” (published by AuthorHouse). Illustrated by Arni Tecson, the book tells of Topper’s exploits and his surprise encounter with a baby in a manger.
Readers meet Topper as he trots into the inn where Jesus will soon be born. After defeating the menacing rats that have infected the inn (the rats represent agents of Satan), Topper watches as a tired man and his wife, who is heavy with child, hurry to obtain warm shelter for the night.
An excerpt from “Topper and the Stable”:
“When Topper rose, the Child had opened His eyes.
The moon had risen, bathing the inn with light,
And up above a bright star ruled the night skies.
It was blessing the manger throughout the night.
This Child in the manger, dressed in swaddling clothes,
Was this the one God sent to redeem mankind?
Topper scanned the Child from His head to His toes
And then wondered what our God had in his mind.”

About the Author
Alphee Henri Ducharme enjoys writing poetry. After witnessing his cat Topper protect visiting birds from the rats that sought their bird seeds, Ducharme wondered if rats were present at Jesus’ birth. This led to the story reflected in his debut book “Topper and the Stable.”
