(PRWEB) September 28, 2016 -- Taiwan has a huge array of terrestrial and marine species, and more than 269 mountain peaks over 3,000 meters above sea level. There are also world-class bike lanes and cycling facilities with 233 of them running across world-famous attractions; numerous cycling enthusiasts all over the world will visit Taiwan every year to experience this biking destination. The 2016 Taiwan Cycling Festival will be held from October 8 to November 13. This approximately month-long festival is an annual cycling effort that draws extensive participation throughout Taiwan.
The Cycling Festival consists of four main events, each with their own distinct theme and caters to participants of different cycling experiences. The Taiwan KOM (King of Mountain) Challenge is for expert cyclists to take an epic adventure riding from zero altitude to 3,275 meters above sea level. Passing through the spectacular Taroko Gorge, this 105 km route offers one of the most unique bike paths in the world.
The 9 days and 8 nights journey, Formosa 900, will cycle around Taiwan with two separate launch dates and starting points - the Penghu Tour and the Round-Island tour. It is a 900km path that features mainly Cycling Route No.1, penetrating into the northern, central and southern areas, offering a full experience of Taiwan local culture and cuisines.
A certificate of cycling island will be awarded to the team members who have completed the challenge. The Sun Moon Lake "Come! Bikeday" features four different bike trails that are suitable for both adults and children. All riders will be greeted by the enchanting scenery along Sun Moon Lake, which has been praised as one of the 10 most beautiful bikeways in the world by CNNGo. Another highlight of this year’s event is the Oh!Bear Cosplay Bikers Group. Oh!Bear will lead the 100 members of the parent-child cycling group to complete this 10km leisure route. Exclusive souvenir of the Oh!Bear cycling costumes and picnic mats will be gifted to the participants. The unique "0 (zero) K (kilometer) Taiwan-Floral City Biking Festival" focuses on promoting Taichung as the starting and finishing point of the round island tour. Besides offering various routes with different start times, there is also a wheelchair assembly to promote accessible bicycle travel; a cycling and family fun carnival will take place and feature the International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC), second hand bicycles and outlet, and a bicycle body check center. This will be a massive showcase of Taiwan's internationally renowned and top notch bicycle industry. In addition to the four most popular major events, there is a series of cycling festivities happening in 20 other cities across Taiwan to complement this large scale cycling festival.
