PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C., Oct. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A Kentucky farm girl matures into a young woman full of big dreams as her life's journey leads her into the European fashion industry and to discovering her true identity in Muriel W. Sheubrooks' new novel, "Beyond the Fences" (published by Archway Publishing).
Separated into two parts, the novel covers Marilyn White's life as well as some of her mother's dark secrets that help her navigate her own life's journey. Marilyn grows up on a rural Kentucky farm, surrounded by a loving, supportive family. As she matures, she ventures into the sophisticated European industry of high fashion. Extremely ambitious, focused and hardworking, she finds herself blindsided by the entrapment of people who help her reach her career goals, then betray her trust. Marilyn learns of dark and profound family secrets from her aging mother. Her mother's private recollections dovetail into Marilyn learning to navigate the course of her own adult journey and maturation with confidence and resolution.
"Readers can identify with the role of Marilyn as she struggles with life changing decisions while feeling extreme commitment to those who have helped her achieve successes," Sheubrooks says. "Marilyn lives with guilt of her resentment of a younger sister who is an invalid. Marilyn struggles with a love/hate relationship with one guy while being disappointed with what appeared to be a perfect relationship with another."
