HERNDON, Va., April 25, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- AASA, Inc. (http://www.aasainc.com), along with 01LightComm subsidiary, have presented the newly introduced Visible Light Communication (VLC) product SpotLiFi at the Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC™) Pavilion during the Hannover Messe, April 1-5. The development and presentation of the product were accomplished in collaboration with i2CAT (http://www.i2cat.net), LEDS C4 (http://www.leds-c4.com), and IIC (http://www.iiconsortium.org).
SpotLiFi is an innovative technology for mobile marketing that transforms visible light from any LED spotlighting fixture into an enhanced user experience that has wide-range of consumer and business applications. A simple technology with endless possibilities, SpotLiFi works by a user pointing their smart phone or smart glasses at the light source, and the desired information, in any format (text, audio, video), will be transmitted and displayed, at the speed of light. In addition to exhibitions, use-cases include museums, airports, retails, sport venues and much more.
In addition to SpotLiFi, the IIC Pavilion featured an automotive security demonstration developed by AASA and other IIC members, and includes a pioneering Li-Fi-based V2X communication technology solution provided by AASA. The demonstration was previously shown at the 2018 Barcelona IoT World Congress.
Bill Hoffman, IIC President, said, "The AASA SpotLiFI demo gave IIC members who participated in the IIC Pavilion at Hannover Messe 2019 a great opportunity to showcase their solutions through video. The automotive security demonstration was fantastic and helped drive traffic to the IIC booth."
VLC/Li-Fi transfers data through changing the intensity of the LED light. It is capable of providing Safe, Secure, Electromagnetic-Free and High-Speed Bidirectional Wireless Communication for variety of applications. It is also "Green" for the environment as it has low-energy consumption, thanks to its light source, LED.
Today, VLC technology was able to provide 225 Gbps speed in a lab environment, and as a commercial product, it provides close to 100 Mbps downlink/uplink. Additionally, VLC has been applied to many concepts and use-cases such as, accurate real time indoor positioning for mobile devices and autonomous vehicles, V2X communication, smart advertisement and marketing, smart cities and manufacturing, and IoT/IIoT connectivity. In general, VLC could be applied to any application where wireless communication is required.
