Absolute Steel Building Granite Mountain Hotshot Fundraiser
Guadalupe, AZ (PRWEB) September 19, 2013 -- Absolute Steel has stepped forward with donations of partial proceeds of all steel building sales to help the families of The Granite Mountain Hotshots, firefighters who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty on June 30, 2013 while fighting a large wildfire near Yarnell, Arizona. The 19 brave firefighters were mostly seasonal firefighters who have young families that are now in need of financial assistance to cover memorial expenses and help them get back on their feet after their terrible loss.
In order to support the firefighters’ families, metal building manufacturer Absolute Steel will be donating partial proceeds ($50 to $500) of each metal building structure purchased through September 30, 2013 to the Prescott Firefighter’s Charities. Operated by members of the Prescott Fire Department, all donated funds are guaranteed to go to the families of The Granite Mountain Hotshots who gave so significantly to help protect others from harm.
Dean Thomas, company founder and CEO explains their reasoning for the fundraising campaign: "This tragedy hit us pretty hard as one of our employees was a firefighter in the Prescott area for more than 10 years and still maintains close relationships with the Prescott Fire family. He knew and worked with a number of those lost firefighters and based on his response we decided to pitch in as a team and help. As most of the firefighters were seasonal their families do not receive life-long benefits, and are going to depend upon community support to assist them into the future. We’re hoping that our efforts can help ease some of the financial burden they may be facing."
To help raise awareness about the fundraiser, Absolute Steel will also donate $1 for each share or comment on Facebook in regards to their campaign. The final donation amount will be announced in early October.
Absolute Steel hopes that through this campaign they can help raise awareness of the sacrifice many seasonal firefighters make, particularly when considering that their families do not receive regular benefits should they lose their lives while on duty. "I hope that more communities like Yarnell will realize that they should create a plan for this type of situation, so they can help the families financially should a tragedy occur. After making the ultimate sacrifice, firefighters should be able to rest in peace knowing that their families are cared for financially," Dean Thomas concludes.
