ROCKVILLE, Md., Dec. 1, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Interest is growing in apprenticeships as a promising but underused workforce development strategy. An Abt Associates evaluation of the U.S. Department of Labor's American Apprenticeship Initiative (AAI) showed that apprenticeships can benefit both workers and employers. On Dec. 6 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. ET, Abt will hold a webinar at which experts will explain how much apprenticeships helped both employers and job seekers.
Apprenticeships can provide employers with the skilled workers they need and offer job seekers the chance to work and earn money while they learn and build skills for well-paying jobs. In the past, the registered apprenticeship model in the U.S. has largely been limited to jobs in construction and manufacturing, and usually to white males. In 2015, the AAI provided five-year grants for the expansion of apprenticeship programs to non-traditional sectors such as healthcare and IT and to more diverse populations, including women and workers of color.
