Academic Administrators Engage in Nationally-Acclaimed Leadership Development Program
ATLANTA (PRWEB) August 12, 2018 -- Last week’s annual AAL Chairs and Academic Administrators Management Program (CAAMP) engaged 41 academic leaders across eight disciplines from 23 colleges and universities. This three-day interactive program took place at AAL’s training facility, Piedmont Center North, in Atlanta from July 30 to August 1, 2018.
Distinguished speakers representing leadership from higher education, dental, medical, nursing, pharmacy, public health education, and business showcased evidence-based methods and strategies for: self-awareness and leadership development, dealing with challenging peers and administrators, diversity and inclusion, finance, increasing emotional intelligence, communication, critical decision-making and execution, academic legal issues, and interprofessional collaboration.
CAAMP participant Dr. Marcos Oliveira, Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Feik School of Pharmacy at the University of the Incarnate Word, commented on the program: “At CAAMP, we were provided with many opportunities to reflect and connect with ourselves. Individually and as a group, we worked to develop a toolbox that allowed us to take this newly developed self-knowledge and leverage it, so we can better serve others. As a whole, we came out better prepared for the task of transforming our institutions and the students we serve, so that they can all become ‘concerned and enlightened citizens.’”
“This year is the tenth anniversary of CAAMP,” explained Dr. Karl Haden, AAL President. “Each year the program grows and changes to address the evolving environment of higher and health professions education. We are pleased that hundreds of academic leaders have found the CAAMP experience an important milestone in their careers.”
