Academy of Model Aeronautics Awards 11 Scholarships
Muncie, IN (PRWEB) October 03, 2013 -- The Academy of Model Aeronautics has awarded scholarships to 11 students pursuing higher education.
Starting in 1970, the Academy of Model Aeronautics has awarded more than $840,000 in yearly scholarships to students with model aviation experience and high standings within their schools. The scholarships are granted with funds donated by model aviation organizations and individuals, AMA member donations, a portion of AMA member dues, and direct donations from the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
The Charles H. Grant Scholarship Program contains other grants, which look at additional specific factors to determine the award. The Toledo Weak Signals award began in 1988 and is awarded to the top three recipients of the AMA/Charles H. Grant Scholarship. The Telford Scholarship is also given out each year and is based on participation in competition activity in the AMA and FAI classifications. New for 2013 is the Basil and Dorothy Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a current college student pursuing an engineering or technical degree while enrolled at an accredited four-year institution.
