SUNNYVALE, Calif. (PRWEB) August 21, 2018
Intrinsic ID, the world’s leading provider of digital authentication technology for Internet of Things security and embedded applications, today announced its BroadKey product has been named among the Top 25 finalists in the Accenture Innovation Awards. BroadKey is among the finalists nominated in the Security category, one of eight themes in which awards will be given.
BroadKey delivers security for Internet of Things products by implementing a root of trust based on an unclonable identity for such IoT products. BroadKey can be implemented at any time in an IoT product’s life span, as early as when it is manufactured and as late as after deployment. BroadKey is the first product to enable remote brownfield deployment of a hardware root of trust.
“BroadKey is a transformational product in efficiently scaling security for the promise of trillions of IoT devices,” said PimTuyls, Intrinsic ID chief executive officer. “Given that threats are changing on a nearly daily basis, it is clear that the trillions of connected devices will all need an unclonable identity to deal with these threats. The liability to the companies delivering these products could be considerable, and such risk should be considered at the highest levels of their management.”
Security is one of eight themes recognized by the Accenture Innovation Awards, along with Climate, Education, Finance, Health, Living & Working, Mobility and Nutrition.
Among the data Accenture cites as indicators of the significance of security innovation:
- 27 percent: Percentage by which successful breaches per company has risen as of 2017
- 2/3: Portion of utility executives who believe their country faces at least a moderate risk of electricity supply interruption from a cyber attack on electric distribution in the next 5 years
- 70 percent: Portion of surveyed companies indicated cyber security is a board-level concern
- $125 billion: Worldwide cybersecurity spending projected for 2020
- $90 trillion: Cost of cyber attacks projected for 2030
The Accenture Innovation Awards is a year-round program aiming to create an extensive ecosystem to connect all innovators, structured around “eight inspiring, issue-based themes with immense potential to transform our future.”
Intrinsic ID is invited to the Security Summer Night September 6 on Pampus Island, The Netherlands, where innovators will meet the theme juries, business partners and other guests. At the end of that night the jury will announce the Top 10 innovations that will proceed to the semifinals during the Innovation Expo in Rotterdam October 4.
