We want our employees to live their best lives both in and outside of the office,” says Casey Kleinman, CEO of Access Development. “This honor confirms – much to our satisfaction – that other organizations share our holistic view of the workplace.

On September 25th, the American Psychological Association announced that loyalty industry leader Access Development has received its Psychologically Healthy Workplace Honor for North America. Access Development was one of 23 companies receiving this honor from the United States and Canada and one of two from Utah.

The award recognizes organizations for implementing workplace practices that promote employee well-being and positive environments. The extensive application process included employee questionnaires and site visits by psychologists who met with employees across multiple departments and leadership levels. Psychologists evaluated Access in five categories that comprise a psychologically healthy workplace: employee involvement, health and safety, employee growth and development, work-life balance, and employee recognition.

“As a company, we have always defined our success as something bigger than the balance sheet. We want our employees to live their best lives both in and outside of the office,” says Casey Kleinman, CEO of Access Development. “This prestigious honor from the APA confirms – much to our satisfaction – that other organizations share our holistic view of the workplace.”

Access Development’s employee-led Be Well Team plans several events designed to promote both a healthy mind and body. Earlier this month, the company hosted an open screening of “Angst,” an IndieFlix documentary that explores anxiety, its causes, effects and ending the cultural stigma surrounding it. The company also holds an annual employee health fair that attracts broad participation from wellness organizations from around the community.

Lisa Oyler, Access Development’s Human Resources Director, says, “At Access, we believe life is about more than making money. It is also about feeling part of a larger community. That’s why Access holds a food drive every year that delivers thousands of pounds of food to families in need, volunteers to pick up trash at the park near our office, and buys new shoes for children at nearby low-income schools.”

Now that Access Development has received the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Honor, the company is eligible to be considered for APA’s highest workplace recognition, the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award. The award winners will be announced in March 2019.
